What is the Junior Athletes Program
The Junior Athletes Program is a sports initiative for young children that promotes physical activity among both typically developing children and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, aged 2 to 7 years. The program provides families, teachers, caregivers, and community members with the opportunity to share the joy of sports with all children.
Mission of the Junior Athletes Program
The mission of the program is to develop young children with intellectual and developmental disabilities in sports from an early age, enhancing their motor, cognitive, and social skills in an environment filled with fun, joy, creativity, and play. The program can be implemented at home, in school, or within the community, fostering inclusion and participation among children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their typically developing peers.
The program includes both typically developing children and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
